Summary | 0000914: No IC² recipe can be used, except for a few ones, in all IC² Experimental versions
Description | After using IC² 2.1.380 for a while (and it worked during that time), the game suddenly didn't let me use any IC²-specific recipe, except for a few ones. This also included melting iron bars, making copper bars and compressing coal balls for example. The weirdest thing is that I was (and still am) capable of making dust of every metal or ore, making a copper wrench, using every machine of IC², melting 2 ore's simultaneously in the induction furnace etc.
Steps To Reproduce | I reproduced it every single time after the first time this occurred. I made a back-up of all my worlds before I first started using an experimental build (because of the warning). I fully deinstalled minecraft and reinstalled minecraft plus mods. I already tried every possible order of installing the mods, all with the same result. Whenever I use the 'legit' version of IC² and load the back-upped world, every recipe works. If I save the world, install the experimental build and reload the world (which is exactly the same thing I did when I first used the experimental build. It worked back then), almost no recipe works. I already tried like 20 different experimental versions, tried almost every single possible order of installing minecraft and mods, and never got an other result than the problem I am having now. Whenever I install an other mod before IC², I get the id-problems (which is logical). If I change the id's in the ic2_map.cfg, all machines and IC²-related stuff disappear. If I change the id's in the ic2.cfg, the game works exactly the same as before, not letting me use almost any recipe of IC².
Additional Information | I am actually kinda troubled by this, cause it's really weird. A fully clean install should resolve the problem, but it seems that doesn't work here. In the appendix is a screenshot of the game, not letting me build an iron furnace, while you can clearly see that I am using IC² at that moment.

maybe is conflict with another mod? |
As I said, I already tried like everything. I did a clean install with only IC²-experimental and it still doesn't work, although it worked before while I was using other mods as well. The mods I was using are made for IC², so there shouldn't be any conflict. (BuildCraft 3, Forestry, RailCraft and ThermalExpansion). I would be gratefull if there was a solution for this, cause it's actually really strange, since it worked before and it doesn't work after a clean install. (Or is there any more Minecraft-data on your pc except for the data in /AppData/.minecraft?) |

I take you're not playing with NEI installed? Recipes in IC2-ex are completely different from what you may be used to from older versions of IC2. For instance, the Iron Furnace is now crafted with Iron Plates and a regular Furnace, Refined Iron does not really exist anymore. In short: Not a bug, just all new recipes. Cheers |
I already discovered that, but that still doesn't make sense. I am pretty sure the recipes were all the same when I started using the experimental build, but after 5 hours or something, they all changed to what they should be. |
What do you mean? They were all the same? As in "the same as in IC2 'classic'"? And they suddenly changed into the new recipes? I have no idea why and how that would happen. I have been using all kinds of IC2-ex builds in a heavily modded Minecraft instance for a couple of months now and I don't remember having issues like that at all. In your previous post you mentioned trying a clean install. To me it seems like you deleted your .minecraft folder instead of the folder containing your modded profile. If this is correct, read on. If you deleted your modded profile folder as well, the following text probably isn't of any interest to you. Since 1.6 and the new launcher, things have changed rather a lot: The .minecraft folder doesn't hold the complete game anymore. In fact, only the vanilla minecraft base jar files as well as some resources (sounds, libraries) will be stored in this folder. To actually play the game, you need to create a profile (the launcher usually sets up a default profile, as does the Forge installer). Any customizations such as configs, mods, resource packs, screeshots etc. will end up in their respective profile. Unless you deleted your modded profile folder, you probably did NOT try a clean, new install. Instead, you only re-downloaded Minecraft and Forge (which re-created the profile, re-using the existing folder) and played with the old set of mods. (hope this is halfway clear, it's way late over here) |
Yes, that was a very clear explanation. But yes, the recipes were the same as in IC²-classic for a couple of hours, after which they suddenly changed to the ones they should be. |
When exactly did the recipes change? While you were ingame? Or did they change when you stopped and re-started the game at some point? Also, did you change anything on your modded setup (add/remove mods, change the configs etc)? Mind you, unless you (or some mod/script/whatever) did actually change out the IC2 jar file or seriously messed with the recipes by itself, this is a very, very strange scenario. It just doesn't make sense to me. I have experienced the odd quirk and glitch from IC2 being experimental and, on rare occasions, from cross-mod conflicts but the problems you described are on a whole new level of weird. Anyways, what is the current situation? Are recipes working properly now? Do you have a working setup or are you still having trouble? Cheers |
Current situation: All recipes are working like they should be in IC²-experimental and the mod is also working fine with the other mods I am using at the same time. How it happened: I stopped playing Minecraft and deleted the TooManyItems mod from the mod folder and restarted the game. That's the point where it happened. However, I did this multiple times before that point and nothing happened. I installed and deleted the TooManyItems mod multiple times and IC² didnt change at all. I still have the backups of my world just when I started using the experimental build and right after the change in recipes happened. By playing both worlds in the experimental build, I can see that I had no refined iron in the first back-up world (which I don't understand, but it seems I just didn't have any more refined iron), but I actually do have refined iron in the second back-up world. That's why I thought the game was broken or something, because I wasn't capable of making refined iron anymore after the recipes changed. This actually indicates that I was still using the old recipes in the experimental build and that they suddenly changed to the newer ones. Btw: All textures were the same as they should be, the whole time I used the experimental build. Also some machines changed when I started using experimental. For example: My MFE-unit from my first back-up world changed to a CES-unit when I started using the experimental build. (Which I replaced with a real MFE-unit by using TMI, because I already paid for a MFE, and I deleted the CES-unit.) 1 weird thing btw: I can't change the mode of the Electric Wrench anymore, although it seems it never fails to dismantle a machine anyways. |
The problem with the wrench is most likely a keybinding issue. Check your keyconfig for overlapping keybinds. Happened to me before. As for the recipe issues, I am out of ideas. This is just too weird, sorry mate. But as long as everything is working fine now... |
That would be weird, cause the wrench did work before I started using the experimental build. |
well .. from what i read : you completly messed up you MC try a fresh clean new install of MC1.6.4 , Forge 965 and currenty IC2-build then only add NEI (really ? still usin TMI ? does it even support current 1.6.4 / Forge965 ?) and look up new recipes directly after creating a new world then you get a fully working system wich may cause world-corruption on older worlds |
I am already using NEI now, which is indeed alot better. I got to say btw, that the wiki is kinda frustrating, cause it doesn't have the experimental recipes for all items, but I got them now with NEI. Still, the fact that it suddenly changed the recipes is still weird, although the mod is working fine now. |
